AMERICAN MASTERS BOSTON MODERN ORCHESTRA PROJECT
The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) presents Vivian Choi in its 2016-2017 season opening program of 'American Masters'. The concert will feature pianist Vivian Choi as the soloist in Gail Kubik's Symphony Concertante, a triple concerto for piano, viola and trumpet which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1952, and Harold Shapero's Partita in C for Piano and Orchestra. The recordings of these works will be released on the BMOP/Sound label in 2017. Click for more info
VIVIAN CHOI PERFORMS FRED ROGERS' ORIGINAL COMPOSITION FOR SOLO PIANO
Pianist Vivian Choi will feature the 'Variations on a Theme of Chopin' by Fred Rogers in solo recitals at Rollins College, the alma mater of Mr Rogers, and at St Vincent Concert Series in Latrobe, the hometown of Rogers. The late Fred Rogers, known worldwide for his broadcast of the children’s television program, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood on the Public Broadcasting Service, composed this piece in 1951 while he was a music major at Rollins College. The piece has not been performed at Rollins since his Senior Graduation Recital and never before in his hometown. Read Article

Selections from Vivian Choi's recordings will be featured on WWFM The Classical Network on The Piano Matters with author and pianist David Dubal. Tune into WWFM 89.9 HD2 on January 14th (repeat broadcast on January 18th at noon) and January 21st (repeat broadcast on January 25th at noon) at 10pm. Vivian Choi makes her New Zealand debut at the Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music (Victoria University of Wellington).
